Question Answering over Structured Data

Title: Exploitation of Linked Data for sharing public agreements data Author: Bc. Pavel Hryzlík Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: Doc. Mgr. Martin Nečaský, Ph.D., Department of Software Engineering Abstract: The objective of the thesis is to explore the possibilities of using Linked Data principles for publishing and sharing data on contracts of public institutions and their connections to related data in the public domain (eg. Business and trade register, register of contracts, etc.). Thesis presents the entire process of opening up contracts. Defines a data standard for open contracts and proposes an ontology for the publication of data on contracts and their interconnections. Furthermore, it designs and implements a platform for publishing contracts. The first part of the platform is a conversion module enabling the conversion of contracts stored in relational databases into RDF form. Employed are R2RML mapping techniques. The second part is a uniform repository that downloads data on contracts in Linked Data format. The third part is a web application that will make the data on contracts available to end users. Software architecture of open government
Kroupa, Tomáš ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
Public administration owns a large amount of information, whose value is not utilized yet. An application of Open Data and Linked Data principles could enable not only to effectively publish this information, but also to exploit the value. The aim of this thesis is to analyse contemporary situation, assess and debate the barriers and also suggest the solutions for application of the principles in the Public Administration of The Czech Republic.
Analysing and Visualizing Statistical Linked Data
Helmich, Jiří ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Klímek, Jakub (referee)
The thesis describes several means of processing statistical data in the ambience of Linked Data and is in particular focused on the utilization of Data Cube Vocabulary metaformat. Its content offers a description of tools related to analysis and visualization of RDF data not only from the statistical view. An indivisible part of this work is the depiction of the Payola tool on whose development is the author still working on. The outcome of this thesis is mainly proposal and consequential implementation of the system that enables a conversion of RDF data in compliance with the DCV vocabularies. The designed system was implemented and integrated to the Payola application. Several other extensions of the system were also implemented by the author. Within the scope of the implementation process there are mentioned also limitations arising from the integration with Payola. In the conclusion the writer describes a few experiments where some of the chosen datasets were applied to the implemented system. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Experiments with Linked Data
Nohejl, Pavel ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Knap, Tomáš (referee)
The goal of this master thesis is to create a "manual" to Linked Data technology. The first part of this thesis describes the Semantic Web and its relationship to Linked Data. Then follows a detailed explanation of Linked Data and so called "Linked Data principles" including involved technologies and tools. The second part of the thesis contains practical experiences with creation and using Linked Data. Firstly is described obtaining data on public procurement by web crawler developed for these purposes, followed by a description of transformation obtained (relational) data into Linked Data and their interlinking with external Linked Data sources. One part of this thesis is also an application consuming created Linked Data. This is compared with the traditional approach when the application consumes data from a relational database. This comparison is supplemented by a benchmark. Finally is presented a manual for the beginning developer which summarizes our experiences. The list of problems which are necessary to solve (from our point of view) for further development of Linked Data is also included.
Web application for presentation integrated inspection data
Finger, Artur ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Knap, Tomáš (referee)
An initiative arises across the globe, to publish government data as Linked Data, thus con- necting it to other parts of the semantic web. Together the data forms the Linked Data Cloud, which serves as a rich data source for numerous applications. Overcoming unexpected pro- blems, we managed to convert data about inspections carried out by the State Veterinary Administration into that format. For that we used an ETL tool called UnifiedViews. Resulting data were described using well-known RDF ontologies. Then, also using UV, we integrated this data with Linked Data of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. We created a web ap- plication, that uses this integrated database to search for fair businesses. Using a database server called Virtuoso, we managed to implement search by geographical coordinates. Our application is extensible by new data sources and extracted SVA data are available as open Linked Data.
Governmental Linked Data and Experimental Application
Pošepný, Tomáš ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Stárka, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the technologies of Resource Description Framework and Linked Data and map the current situation in pub- lishing procurement in the Czech Republic on the Internet. The thesis is focused on problems and de ciencies in the publishing and o ers solution in the form of Government Linked Data. Along with that, an experimental application for scraping and triplifying public contracts from the E-ZAK system is developed. It also allows possible later extensions for other systems administrating public procurement. The obtained RDF dataset is mashed up with a Linked Data da- ta source for public contracts posted in ISVZ containing also information about organizations from ARES system. The mashed data are visualized in a simple Web application. In the conclusion, the entire thesis is summarized and a couple of hints for developers of similar applications are mentioned.
Linked Data Integration
Michelfeit, Jan ; Knap, Tomáš (advisor) ; Klímek, Jakub (referee)
Linked Data have emerged as a successful publication format which could mean to structured data what Web meant to documents. The strength of Linked Data is in its fitness for integration of data from multiple sources. Linked Data integration opens door to new opportunities but also poses new challenges. New algorithms and tools need to be developed to cover all steps of data integration. This thesis examines the established data integration proceses and how they can be applied to Linked Data, with focus on data fusion and conflict resolution. Novel algorithms for Linked Data fusion are proposed and the task of supporting trust with provenance information and quality assessment of fused data is addressed. The proposed algorithms are implemented as part of a Linked Data integration framework ODCleanStore.
Customizable Linked Data Browser
Klíma, Karel ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Klímek, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to identify key requirements for exploring Linked Data and design and implement a web application which serves as a Linked Data browser, including search and customization features. In comparison to existing approaches it will enable users to provide templates which define a visual style for presentation of particular types of Linked Data resources. Alternatively, the application can provide other means of altering the presentation of data or the appearance of the application. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
